A Few Surprise Rain Showers

The models missed out on this one.

A short wave (upper level disturbance) has helped an area of showers to move into and nearly out of the area. Drier air near the surface has prevented much of the rain from reaching the ground. We only picked up .02" this morning. This area of showers has already crossed through NE TN and much of SW VA and W NC. Expect it to be completely out of the area by 2:30 PM...as the short wave exits as well.

With the showers comes increased cloudiness. With the increased cloudiness, temperatures are sitting rather low. We currently sit at 69F, while the airport sits at 67F. Overcast skies won't stick around long, however. Many of us could be under partly cloudy skies by 4 PM. With the decreasing cloudiness will come increasing temperatures...though I doubt they'll reach the lower 80's forecast by many...including us. Readings into the upper 70's are likely this afternoon across the valley locations...while the mountains can expect upper 60's to lower 70's.
