Forecast Synopsis: 7/12
This is the beginning of a new segment I'll be adding to the site daily.
Tonight: A few scattered clouds overnight...no big deal. Much cooler overnight temperatures. Some mountain tops could get into the middle to upper 40's!
Friday: 00Z NAM suggesting scattered convection over SW VA tomorrow. 18Z GFS is dry in SW VA...with little rainfall into TN. That may change with the 00Z run. I'll go along with the NAM's call for isolated showers and thunderstorms over SW VA. Temperatures will stay mild, with highs in the lower 80's.
Friday Night: Models suggest cutoff of rainfall early. I agree...though don't be shocked to see a shower last into the night. Lows not much different than tonight.
Saturday: Once again, the 00Z NAM suggests isolated rainfall...this time over W NC. 18Z GFS is dry over the area. I'm going with 20% chance for isolated thunderstorms over W NC and the W NC mountains. Temperatures will warm a bit...up into the middle 80's, especially over NE TN.
Sunday through Wednesday: The models are pushing for a weak front to knock on our door...and then pull back and expand. It will come close to the area...and that will set off scattered thunderstorms across the entire area. With increasing dew points and warming temperatures...we can expect scattered convection through the week.
