Severe Risk Today

The Storm Prediction Center (SPC) has placed much of the viewing area under a slight risk of severe thunderstorms. I agree with this, but I also think that Western North Carolina will get in on the action. Hail, high wind, frequent lightning, heavy rain, and an isolated tornado are all possibilities. There is a higher chance for severe weather west of the area, toward Knoxville. If traveling, keep this in mind and allow extra time, just in case you encounter a thunderstorm while driving.
