Rain and Thunderstorms Tonight
A large area of rain and thunderstorms has developed over Middle Tennessee...and is readying to move into the area soon. This has developed ahead of a strong cold front that will sweep through our area later tonight. Rain could be on the heavy side at times. Look for this to move in later this evening and last through a good portion of the night.
As the front moves through, wind will pick up as well. Wind Advisories are out for the Mountains of East Tennessee and all of Western North Carolina.
Behind the front, temperatures will drop fairly quick. Combined with residual moisture and a decent northwest flow, "upslope" showers should develop. These could, in turn, mix with and/or change into snow over the higher elevations. It looks right now as if this will last into early Friday. Some areas could pick up 1-2 inches before all is said and done.
