Decent Shot of Showers Headed for the Area...More to Come?
A shortwave dropping in is shoving an area of rain with it...almost due east into the area. Look for a decent shot of rain for the Tennessee-side of things. As to whether or not the rain stays together over the mountains...that's to be seen. Sometimes shortwave-oriented showers have trouble making it over the Appalachians.
We've got another shot at some decent rainfall tomorrow, as a cold front makes its way toward the area. Colder air aloft and decent shear will allow for a few thunderstorms to develop as well. The cold front should move through late Wednesday into early Thursday. Behind it, a northwesterly (upslope) flow. This will allow for a few light showers to develop. With crashing temperatures, some of this may actually drop as snow in the higher elevations!
