What kind of impact is the squall line that develops further to the north expected to have on the area, especially southwest Virginia? (Lee County resident here)

I am working on an in-depth post regarding tonight's weather. The short answer is that the storms may still pack a punch by the time they reach Southwest Virginia. (Notice that there is a Severe T'stm Watch out for Buchanan and Dickenson Counties) As far as whether they will be at severe limits, I can't say. How strong the line is later this evening will be key as to how strong our thunderstorms are.

Right now, I'd say watch out for gusty winds and some small to moderate-sized hail, as well as plenty of lightning and heavy rainfall.

Thanks for viewing the site! The post regarding tonight's weather will be up shortly.
