Showers and Thunderstorms Developing, Increasing in Coverage

That pesky cold front just will not go away. If you will recall, around 21 hours ago this same cold front produced a rather strong line of thunderstorms that tore through Northeast Tennessee. The fun and games continue today as scattered afternoon thunderstorms have developed. Humid air is still in place, which worsens the situation. There are a few strong storms out there...but nothing severe as of now. You have to slide down into Upstate South Carolina to get into severe weather.

Don't get me wrong, we need the rain. However, I could do without a week full of convection though, especially after what happened yesterday.

I expect the front to continue sliding south...temporarily stalling out sometime tomorrow in Upstate South Carolina...and moving again southeast later in the day.

The advantage of the cold front: Cooler temperatures...but more importantly, much lower humidity levels. That miserable air hanging around the area this past week, featuring temps in the 90's and DP's in the 70's? Gone. Lower to middle 80's invade, along with drier air. UNFORTUNATELY, this won't last long. 90's & high humidity are again possible by Independence Day, along with the chance of scattered afternoon showers and thunderstorms. Yuck. For those that enjoy this summer weather, have at it. I'm more of an upper 70's, low humidity type guy. Hehe...
