Scattered Showers and Thunderstorms Developing

Heat and humidity this afternoon has led to showers and thunderstorms popping up. Most activity is concentrated in two areas. The first area is a line extending along I-81 from the TN/VA border to just northeast of Wytheville, VA, near the I-81/I-77 interchange. The other area is more of a cluster, spread across the TN/NC border. The storms may contain heavy rain and small hail. I wouldn't rule out a storm reaching severe limits. These should die down as the evening progresses.

Smoky and hazy conditions can be expected as well, as wildfires continue to burn in Greene County. Patchy fog is likely tonight, especially in areas receiving rainfall.
