Word of the Day: Downsloping

That's right kids. Downsloping. The act of nature responsible for almost nothing in the rain department thus far. Everything is getting torn apart by just that...downsloping. What is downsloping? Downsloping is wind moving down a mountain chain, decreasing relative humidity and cloudcover, and increasing stability.

Whatever downsloping hasn't taken care of is thanks for our cutoff low sitting 100-200 miles too far west. The front is about to move through, and there's a pathetic little band of rain running ahead of it. Good luck getting any of that if you live in NE TN.

Have no fear...I'll work up something for tomorrow, Thursday, and Friday. Models look promising...but, then again, that could be bad news.

Rain totals thus far:
KTRI (Tri-Cities Regional Arpt.) : 0.11"
KAVL (Asheville Regional Arpt.): 0.61"
KLNP (Wise/Lonesome Pine Arpt.): 0.00"
KGEV (Jefferson/Ashe County Arpt.): 0.22"
KTNB (Boone/Watauga County Hospital Heliport): 0.40"
KVJI (Abingdon): 0.17"
KMKJ (Marion/Wytheville): 0.00"
KTYS (Knoxville/Mcghee-Tyson Arpt.): 0.59"
KLOZ (London, KY/Corbin Arpt.): 2.33"

And a late add-in...SnoJoe in Yancey County is reporting .07". AppWX's now-primitive equipment (soon to be upgraded!) says 0.00". The rain gauge is still trust-worthy!
