Wow...Quite a Bit of Activity Across the Area

I emerge from the workplace and find...wait a minute, that can't be right.

Plenty of convection has developed across the area, including several strong to severe thunderstorms. We broke our streak of rain-less days with a bang. I've only recorded .55", but Downtown Erwin got quite a bit more. Around 20 minutes ago, it was flooded, with at least 6" of running water moving along Main Street.

A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for much of Western NC. I'll get that on the severe weather marquee ASAP. Watch out for heavy rain, hail, damaging wind, and plenty of cloud-to-ground lightning.
