Threat for Severe Weather Today

The SPC has placed the entire area under a slight risk of severe thunderstorms.
Current dew points are in the upper 50's to lower 60's...and are only expected to increase. After a few early-morning showers, the sun should make an appearance late-morning and early-afternoon. This will help to destabilize the atmosphere...and increase humidity.
As the afternoon progresses, we will see scattered to numerous thunderstorms develop, as we have all week.
Northeasterly flow is present today...and this, combined with daytime heating and moderate to high dew points, will help to strengthen developing thunderstorms. As these storms continue to strengthen, some will reach severe limits.
Bottom line: Thunderstorms this afternoon...numerous strong; scattered severe. Watch out for hail, damaging wind, plenty of lightning, and heavy rain.
