Convection Firing Across W NC

A rather large ridge of high pressure is stuck over the area...bringing warm to hot temperatures and uncomfortable dew points. This is helping to produce isolated to scattered thunderstorms.

The storms are not moving very quickly; In fact, some are merely drifting. This is allowing for heavy rain to stay over the same areas and produce flash flooding.

Severe weather is not a major concern with these storms. There will be several strong thunderstorms...with gusty winds, small hail, heavy rainfall, and plenty of lightning.
