Scattered Thunderstorms Through the Night
A weak frontal boundary has slipped through the area. Along with this, temperatures have soared into the 80's today, and dew points are in the 60's. This is causing thunderstorms to develop. Right now, there is not much convection across Southwest Virginia and Northeast Tennessee, but storms have fired across Western North Carolina. A few different cells have prompted severe thunderstorm warnings at different times across Southwestern North Carolina. A few more storms reach severe limits before the night is done.
Storms should continue to develop through the evening. Movement will be slow, generally to the southeast at around 5 MPH.
Scattered storms will continue into tomorrow, but partly cloudy skies should return by Saturday evening.
